Need some advice

Ok,

ok iam building my custom machine and i bought this "as new" p4 3.4ghz cpu for £140 from ebay but to my surprise this cpu had 4 bent pins and 1 pin was broken/missing. when i tried to return it , seller didnt take it back then i complained him but no avail 🙁,i didnt get any money back so iam now left with this broken processor and £140 wasted.. 🙁 I have all other parts and now only need cpu but my prob is iam outta money and my dad woudnlt give me anymore money. and i have only £50 availabe atm and the only brand new cpu i can buy is celeron 2.6 ghz. i know its not the fastest cpu in the world but i think it will do the job? . my mobo only supports prescott 800 and not 533 which means i cant even buy celeron D's 🙁(.. so could anyone tell me how good celeron 2.6 ghz combied with 1gb ddr400/Geforce fx5200 is for light gaming(i will only play some mmorpgs like Daoc /guild wars and mayb Battlefield vietnam with gfx details down). Iam sure in future (when i have more money) i will be able to upgrade to high end p4 processor , so do u guyz this think celeron is a good temprory solution for my situation?

If you purchased it via credit card, the card company may be able to help. If you purchased it by PayPal without the insurance and using a non-cc account, well I doubt Paypal would help.

I hope you gave the guy a neg on his eBay feedback. Good luck.

No i bought it via cheque.. my dad doesnt have a paypal account.

🙁 i have tried everything but this guy would never reply to my emails.... 🙁 i even left neg feedback....

so wat do u think is celeron 2.6ghz good enuf for me ? i am sure i will have enuff money in 3/4 months to buy a new p4.

I've learned always to use credit cards. If somebody screws you online, you can write to the credit card company and say what you got wasn't what you ordered. They will give you your money back and then they will harass the person. You would of course have to send back the system, so it's time consuming and can be a hassle, but it's better than loosing out completely. Next time use a credit card, there is less risk involved.
