I picked up a laptop for $70 from someone who didnt want it anymore. To the best of my knowledge, its beyond warantee, and i purchased a CD drive for it (he lost the dvd 🙁). As it turns out, it wont boot up anymore. It wont even post. Its an inspiron 1100.


What would you guys suggest i do to proceed with this problem?
 
How about contacting the person you bought it from and telling him/her that the goods are tainted?
 
When I bought it, it worked fine. Just ran a little slow. Somewhere after buying a network card and the cd drive, things just went downhill.
 
You picked up a working lappy for $70?? Lucky you...

Try unplugging everything you attached to it and try booting... does it work?

 
I plugged it in using just the ac adapter, and it didnt boot. When I leave the battery in, i see the charging light, and the button on the battery indicates that the battery is holding a charge.
