Order the police report from the accident. Get the sister's address. Find the vehicle and have it towed out of there. It's yours, you don't need any permission. I'd let the cops know I was doing it first though especially if you're black.

Unfortunately another aspect of this situation which hasn't been brought up is that in our sue-happy society I wouldn't be at all surprised if you found yourself liable for her actions while driving your car.

I served on a jury about this. In GA the owner is liable. If the driver regularly (daily,weekly...) uses it with the owners permission. Or if the owner loans it for a extended time.

I would invest some time in finding where the car is (tailing her discreetly, whatever) and just get in it and drive off.

It's not like a rental car where you have a contract and at the end of the rental period it becomes stolen. You don't have anything except that you just gave her the car.

Surely one or more of your other relatives e.g. Mother/Father/Other-sibling(s) knows their address. Can't you contact them, and explain the situation, then they can either contact your sister on your behalf, or decide to reveal the address to you.

The ideal way to resolve this is by communicating with your sister. You must have had a reasonable relationship at some point in time, to have lent/supplied the car in the first place (presumably).

You've told police that you lent your vehicle to her. It's a civil issue. (Do you think returning a car rental to the rental agency 10 minutes late constitutes grand theft?) Your car, prepare to be bent over, maybe they'll use lube. You MUST do what you can to get the car back ASAP. If your sister is involved in another accident, and there's some personal injury, I guarantee they won't use lube.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like me threatening her that I was going to have it reported stolen helped. She will have it to me by the weekend so she says...And yes I have asked her over the phones several times for it..she basically said go screw yourself. But at least this time it worked..just sad that I had to threaten her to get it back...sad state of affairs really...

It would NOT have been good for any possible future reconciliations with your sister, if you had been forced to contact the Police and/or get people to tow it away (etc).

I wouldn't wait. Go to DMV and cancel the registration NOW - This may help you with any liability issues. Also, should your sister (pics pls) be stopped by a cop and the registration is no longer valid - They will automatically tow the car, and that will help you get the car back.

Where I live - The DMV does not require that you turn the plates in when you cancel. There is a box to indicate that the plates are lost/stolen.
