i just got a K6 233 from a friend up and running(had to fix the PSU) and i let it idle for a bit before touching the heatsink, and i could only keep my hand on it for a few seconds before it started to burn. i want to run rc5 on this thing, but i'm afraid that with that kind of heat i'll melt it or something :p anyone have any suggestions? i can't buy a new heatsink because i just spent nearly all my money on my new box ;) i have about $10cnd left over, lol. i am going to add some heatsink grease in a few. anyone have any cheap socket 7 heatsink recommendations?

thanks :)

Cooler Master DP5-5G11 (50mm fan) is a good small (compact) hsf, its rated for the T-Bird, Duron and Flip-chip cpu, but I have used one with success on the Socket 7 K6-2 & 3's.........

If you need more cooling, look on their web site (Cooler Master) for a cooler w/a 60mm fan, if you have plenty of room ..................

Yep, I had CoolerMaster cooler with my K6's and it did a decend job. BTW, that K6/233 may be considerably hotter than K6/200 or those K6-2's cause it's core voltage was something like 3.1/3.2 volts versus 2.8V on lower-speed K6 and 2.4-2.6 volts on K6-2/3.
