those klipsch speakers are way too bright. they sound like whining little kids...if you are going to use speakers, save your money, get a nice denon receiver, some good energy/polk/paradigm/nht type speakers, and you will be much much happier than those whining klipsch's.

Those are the same ones I have, but I bet they sound just as good.

Here you go.

Anyone else have any comments about these? They look pretty sweet and supposedly sound pretty good

Yeah I'd like to hear more about them too. I'm not 100% sold on flat panel speakers just yet, but I'm willing to listen :)

Edipis speaks the truth, I am happy with the Bass, but if you need earthshaking bass then its true, the Monsoons wont give you that. They aren't designed to be home theater replacements, but I can tell you after having them for 2+ years now, and spilling an entire glass of water over one of the satellites, they sound just as good as the day I got them.

IMO, they are perfect for music, unless you listen to gangsta rap all of the time. IN every other genre, they do very well. They bring out every subtle part, etc. For movies they do alright, but Id have to say the Klipschs would probably do better. For games, would you rather hear more detail, or have the explosions sound better?

Eh, its up to you, but thats my suggestion. I think itd be worth it to at least give them a shot, and if you aren't happy, send 'em back. You say you listen to music a lot, and the Monsoons will do VERY well.

I have an older set of Monsoon 2.1's and they sound really amazing. Don't worry about flat panels....they rock!

Give a listen to the Altec Lansing 621 series. Excellent sound and a good price. $118.00 shipped from
Newegg. The highs don't "whine" and the bass is super on these babies.

When talking about the Monsson 2.1's are flat panels, you say the bass is low?
Doesn't the bass come from the subwoofer? If so the bass problem stems from that and not from the flat panel design of these?

I don't know about MrBond, but personally I'm looking for speakers to play my MP3s at work (thus I don't want 4.1 speakers to annoy the rest of the company!)

Alternex - What they were, and i was saying, is that if you need MAJOR bass, the sub provided wont give you that. What it will do is give you pretty decent and tight bass for your music. Correct, the panels have nothing to do with how good the bass is on the monsoons. Or at least not much to do with it. I listen to MP3s on mine, 24/7. All of the time, I only have 1,000 MP3s, but I can tell you they sound great. warning though, monsoons do bring out the bad encoding of some of them, or low bitrates. You can easily tell if something sounds like crap compared to a 256 or 320 or even a WAV file.

Also, the flat panels themselves (the satellites) can get VERY loud without distorting. Its fun to have friends over and them ask you how that much sound comes out of those
"little things". I just pick them up and move them around, they are amazed. They do look cool to. I can take Pics of my setup if you want. So basically, since you cant play your music THAT loud anyway, I think the monsoons would do great. Another good feature, is that the sound is very directional. IF a person is standing to left or right of your setup, it won't sound near as loud to them as it would to you sitting in the computer chair.

I hope that is helpful.

Altec Lansing ATP3. 2.1 speaker setup with a 6.5 inch sub, 2 3 inch mid ranges and 4 high end tweeters. They pump out SERIOUS bass when you need it and are crystal clear thanks to the combo of excellent quality tweeters and 3 inch mid range speakers. They dont have a headphone plug tho . . .
