It's a crop from a 600 dpi tiff of a 1911 photo. Bastard photographer should have gotten closer to the subject. It is plausible that the second line is BARRE as the machine is a stone polisher and Barre, Vermont was the stone cutting capital of the universe back then. Here's the full pic. The masons are working granite blocks from my quarry.

Both lines continue further than is immediately obvious. I see some "T"s at the end of the second line. Maybe something like Bartlett?

I think it may be pictorial. The part where you see "W" has an arch over the top that continues past the right leg of the "W".
