uhh, i beleive Adobe ImageReady WILL make a batch file to resize or do whatever to a batch of pictures... don't quote me on that.

ACDsee after like 2.4 got so bloated... i dunno, it seems to take quite a bit longer just to load up a pic.
 
definitely Paintshop Pro.
Goto Image->Resize

that's all you want. There you can resize it to any pixel size you want keeping the aspect ratio or not and also very handy for a quick adjustment with good judgement is the resizing by percentage option one down.
If you think the picture is twice as big as you want it, just resize down to 50% and you're golden.
Don't forget to F12 (or: File->Save As) when you're done to keep the original nice and large 🙂

OK guys, here's my favorite FREE 😀 batch resizer: Picturetray. I also use IrfanView (one of the best freeware programs ever, IMHO).....but Picturetray is straightforward, reasonably fast and does the job well. You can even choose the compression algorithm used.

Try it, it's a winner.
