need scanner recommendations for ones priced around $99 what do you think? my wife bought me a visioneer 8100 but i was thinking of returning it. Cnet had a lot people that were unhappy with it. I saw a canon 650u. It is real small and the cnet customer reviews look good. what do you think?

get the Epson Perfection 1200U. I got the Epson Perfection 636U. Works great. Thought i saw Epson Perfection priced around $50, so the 1200U is probably around $100.

Epsons not only have very good picture quality but also some of the fastest speeds, and scanners vary much more in speed than in quality. The Epson 610U seems to be as good as the 636U

I've got a USB Acer 620U and it works great for what I use it for.

But I'd prboably go with one of the bigger brands. HP, Cannon or Epson.

Plustek makes nice ones for film and slide scanning. I found that it is necessary to have back light for film as well as high optical resolution. Plustek gave me both of those in a USB package with 2 templates at $99.

Get a 42 bit Canon N36 (or was it 50) USB scanner, I got mine for $ 85 shipped from Onvia.
