Need Registry Hack for Switching Mobos

Hi everyone,
Here's my dilemma. I went from a Intel setup to an AMD Duron w/the IWill KK266 KT133a chipset. To save time and aggrevation I didn't install the OS all over again. I used the known hack of going into the registry and removing the "enum" key and then let windows re-identify everything upon reboot. The problem is that everything looks o.k. but my floppy drive is running in Dos-Compatibility mode. I can get rid of that by going into the registry and removing the references to the floppy and then reboot so that windows finds it correctly the second time. The issue is that when it does this the second time it also loads some hardware called "tape controller" or "tape detection" under device manager.
Summary...
I either get dos mode compatibility w/o the "tape controller" or preferred mode with "tape controller".
I can't be the only one that ran into this because I also ran into this problem when I switched intel based motherboards but then I just re-loaded the OS. I don't want to do this again.
Any ideas or experience,
Nino

Why don't you just format?? Wierd stuff like what is happening to you is why most of us format when we make major hardware changes.

The registry "hack" is as follows:

Open up regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Delete the folder Enum and all it's subfolders
Reboot

This will force Windows to redect all your hardware....

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's because when you originally loaded windows, you included backup - which includes the tape drive drivers. Go to control panel/add remove programs/windows setup/system tools, and see if backup has been checked. If it has, uncheck it.
