Need recs for some vocal focused "folky" music

Also outside of what I normally listen to, but here's a couple somewhat similar

Liked the 2nd one, 1st one was a little weak. The vocals didn't have the forefront and presence I'm looking for. They were almost whispering.

Hmmm... not diggin it as much. I'm starting to think either acoustic or cleaner guitar is what I like about the other ones. Either way, this is good keep em coming

The one and only Roy O.
Mama's and the Pappa's
Everly Bros.
Bob Dylan
CCR
Peter, Paul and, Mary
Pete Seeger
Joan Baez
Brothers Four

might be outside slightly of what you're after but fleet foxes / father john misty / j.tillman are worth checking out

One of my favorites! Also, Wagon Wheel, above. The hook is an unused demo from Bob Dylan that OCMS turned into a song. We had our band play both of those songs at our wedding. 🙂

Some other good ones:

Greg Brown

Josh Ritter
Tallest Man on Earth
Gillian Welch
Rodney Crowell (when acoustic)
Jakob Dylan
The Felice Brothers

There's a lot more out there, but this'll get you started.

Seconded for Josh Ritter, Tallest Man on Earth, Felice Brothers (before their most recent album, they've kinda taken a strange turn for electronica).

Also, check out:
The Avett Brothers
The Wood Brothers
Justin Townes Earle
The Lumineers
Murder by Death
Brown Bird
The Head and the Heart

Lots of good modern Folk out there.

To quote Bob Boilen, "Did you swallow an amplifier as a child?" Haha. So much emotion and energy.

I'm also a fan of Edward Sharpe's 'Om Nashi Me'. Check out Of Monsters and Men, and Kopecky Family Band's 'Disaster' (I love how this one builds).

the first song reminds me a lot of Simon and Garfunkel

ill add
Bon Iver
Barefoot Truth
Jon Butler Trio
Radical Face
Mumford & sons

The general tone of the first track reminds me of Leonard Cohen.

Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but Nickel Creek's first album "Nickel Creek" might also interest you.
