Need recommendations: Socket-A motherboard for 700-800mhz Duron

I know a 700-800mhz duron isn't that good any more but I need a solid motherboard for this chip. I don't need RAID or anything fancy. I also have pc-100 dimms that I want to use with the board. ECS K7S5A is NOT an option...I've seen too many bad posts about this board. It's better if it's an older board since I'm looking to buy a used one over at FS/FT board. If you can list a few good boards, that'll work also. I'll look up reviews/posts about them. I know many of you are running durons in your backup systems and any help is gr8ly appreciated. Thanks.

i would say anything by ECS--they are dirt cheap, include integrated LAN (and modem sometimes), and are pretty good. i had a K7SEM that was a good performer. i would just go to newegg and say list all mobos by price and take the cheapest. with a chip as crappy as that, you don't want to spend any more than you have to, unless you play to put an AthlonXP in it some day.

Get a decent KT133a chipset board like my MSI K7T Turbo. Mine is very reliable and performs very well with a 1gig duron.

You can probably get one at a good price now.

Boards on my list:

ASUS A7V Socket-A KT133 ATX
Iwill KK266 Socket-A KT133A ATX
MSI K7T Turbo Socket-A KT133A ATX
ABIT KA7 KX133 Slot-A ATX

I know a few of these have RAID but will probably go with the one available for the best price. Opinions on the above boards and any others are welcome.

Yodayoda: I'm trying to avoid ECS if possible.

Like I said: the MSI K7T Turbo is the way to go. Check Anand's review. It also performs better since the newer BIOS's have been released. Cheap alternative might be the Turbo Lite or for better cpu support Turbo 2.

Turbo 1 limits to XP1800+, higher cpu support is unofficially available.

Turbo Lite same as above.

Turbo 2 is XP2000+.

Iron Woode: I agree that the MSI board is very good. I also read the review before I added it to the list. My only concern is the price.

You could try Ebay or egghead. Do a search. Since its not a new board any more, prices should be better. Where I live this board is around $130 CDN. Plus they give you a USB header as well for a total of 4 ports..

If you're willing to pay a lot but get great performance, then go for MSi K7N420 Pro. You get DDR, GF2 MX, Audigy type Audio and NIC. But, if it needs to be cheaper then, I have personally used ECS K7VMA ($55). It's VIA KM133, and while it's perfectly fine, SiS 730S is really a better performing platform, so I would recommend ECS K7SEM.
