Need recommendations on good external usb HD case

lozina

Lifer
I bought one usb external hd case/box and I'm really disappointed with it. it's this heavy steel box which requires a screwdriver to open and place a drive in and has a wire inside the case which tends to get caught in the sliding mechanism making it hard to close.

I hope to avoid making another mistake by asking someone here if they got a favorite they'd like to share

i like:

-lightweight
-tool-less (thumbscrews)
-can easily house full size drives or laptop size drives (already have the adapter)
-fast/reliable

sounds like you want a HD enclosure where you can change out the drive easily and often. I'm not sure if this would help but have you looked into getting a dock? like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...re-_-Vantec-_-17392022

If that's not what you want. This is what I use. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817332012
It doesn't come with thumbscrews, but you could always add that on yourself. I like it because it has a fan. I have another enclosure that doesn't have a fan and it feels like you can cook an egg on that thing if u leave it on for a hr or so.
