Need recommendation on a good RPG Multiplayer PC

Just played BG 1&2 on XBox with two friends but it is only 2 players at a time :( We had a blast playing though

My preferences are
1) Three people at same time
2) Something competitive like BG 1. BG 2 shared the gold while BG1
was given only to the person that picked it up. Pissing off the
other players was part of the fun that we enjoyed in the game.
3) Hopefully cheap ~$20 since we will have to buy three copies. Higher
is ok if worth it.
4) Prefer RPG since one of the players gets motion sickness or
a headache playing fast FPS type games.
5) The LAN is all P4 Single core 2.4 or so with 512 meg and GF4 TI4200
to 4600 cards so nothing that would tax these too much. The online
would also be limited due to one of the computers still being similar
to the LAN machines above.

If you know of a XBOX game that fits the same preferences that would work too. Thanks!

edit: removed extra "though" ;)

Well, with those system specs, you're pretty limited. Neverwinter Nights was decent, the second one is better, but takes more graphics power than the ti4x00 series can give you. Also give Operation Flashpoint a look. It's an FPS with a pretty steep learning curve, but it's not a 'fast' FPS, it's very wide open and you can use a variety of land and air vehicles to travese large islands. There's a 'Capture the Island' mod called MFCTI or something like that which is great co-op against AI.

Maybe check out Icewind Dale. Oh, and get BG2 for PC. One of the best RPG's of all time, IMO. LAN play is awesome.

Thanks for the info. I have BG2 for the PC but I haven't played it for a long time. I'll load it up today and check it out. One of my friends played Icewind Dale but wasn't impressed with the graphics for some reason. I thought they were fine.
I was thinking Neverwinter Nights or something but I don't know how the multiplayer is on it. I'll also check out Operation Flashpoint.

BG for Xbox ("Dark Alliance", action RPG) offers very different gameplay than your standard PC RPGs, you'll probably notice a world of difference between it and the console interpretation. I believe there's a Fallout title (Brotherhood of Steel) and a Marvel game for consoles which might offer similar gameplay.

For the LAN, the Diablo and Dungeon Siege series might be more accessible (quick gratification). Some of the more in-depth RPGs will be much more satisfying, but can take a bit to get into

Is the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series any good? Was there ever a PC version released?

Cool link, thanks. I didn't see much for BG2 but some nice mods
that may be useful for other games

I always liked Diablo II, might have to revisit that one. I see BG 2 compilation on Amazon from different vendor for ~15 shipped so I'll
probably buy two of those. Just loaded up BG2 that I had, forgot how annoying that guy was that keeps talking to Boo the hamster!

I never saw DA for the PC. Like Mundane says, it is very different gameplay. PC version is way better in my opinion due to length of gameplay, weapons, and plot. The only advantage Xbox version had was two people can play on a widescreen which was nice.

Oh snap, I forgot about Dungeon Siege. I highly recommend that one!

What about Titan Quest? Similar to Diablo 2's play style but updated graphics. I'm not sure if it would run on your PC very well or not.

Thanks for the suggestions. Downloaded and played the single player DS demo to the end. Also downloaded DS2 demo and it also looks cool but I still need to check the specs on DS2 requirements.
I'll check out NWN, Titan and Phantasy when I have time. Thanks again

Champions of Norrath on the PS2 is pretty similar in gameplay to Dark Alliance. There's also the Gauntlet series.

Check out the Hunter the Reckoning games for the Xbox (I believe there's 2 of them). We had a kick playing those 2-4 player. They're a little cheesy, but I found them to be a lot more enjoyable than the Baldurs Gate and Champions of Norrath console games (which literally put me to sleep I thought they were so boring).
