I would like to have friends/family leave messages (and not hear busy signal) while I am online (dial-up).
I don't want a cell phone or dsl or cable modem connection. Just a simple voice message service.
Preferably <$10/mo. plan with no software installation or ad. My local phone company has something similar but more expensive and with setup fee AND restricted number of messages per month.

Anyone have any recommendation?

Thanks.

That's weird that your local phone company charges so much for voice mail service. QWest offers voice mail here for $6.95 per month, unless they changed it.

As for third party voice mail recommendations, I have been a very happy customer of American Voice Mail for 5 years. It costs only $10.28 per month, if you pay for 12 months, you get 1 month free.

One of the best features of my voicemail is their pager/cell phone notification. After someone leaves me a voice mail message my cell phone gets paged, also works if you have a pager.

Thanks gump47371 and RossMAN. I will take a look at those.

I did some search in google and find CallWave. I have to install their software and I assume the free service will have spam/ad, etc. I will see what their paid plan looks like too.

Any more? Please keep them coming.
Thanks.
