I only see a few of this type on the newegg website.

The are,
Epox EP-9NDA3+, //This is the only one of the list that is not OOS.
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939,
MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM,
Gigabyte GA-K8NS-939
Epox EP-9NDA3J

Are there any others that are quality products and not too expensive?

I'm thinking of the Soltek SL-K8TPro-939

depends what you are looking for in a mobo, for just no nonsense no bells and whistles ocing speed and performance the Epox A3J with a winchester 3000+ is the best price, performance deal out there, I am running it at 285x9, that is 2.55 ghz, wow....

For OC and Stability, I like the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum.

No, stability and reliability is the most important thing, which I currently have with my AXP.
But now,in addition, I want more speed and quiet. So, I've selected a low end A64 939 90nm and just need a motherboard to match it with.
As much as I don't need to overclock, it's just too tempting if I select a mobo that takes to it easily. However, I won't go to the extreme with overclocking, like water cooling and such. In fact, I will only overclock on occasion if I need to demonstrate what my setup can do if I were to add a Radeon 9800 Pro. I'm not going to get uber memory either.
I currently have some PNY PC2700 that had it's chips labeled just like their PC3200. I overclocked that memory to 2.5-5-4-9 at 400MHz and that's where it's stayed for weeks now.

I do know the MSIs have a better reputation for stability than the Gigabytes but the Neo2 costs alot more than the K8NS-939.

The MSI is the favorite nf3 board in many reviews.

From a chipset point of view, is the VIA K8T800Pro with dual channel in the same league with the nVidia nForce3 Ultra?

I still haven't written off the Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 or the SL-K8T-939FL

at the most, it can match the nf3 but it can't beat it
at least you know what you're getting with the nf3

and I don't think people have gotten 300+HTT with the VIAs although I could be wrong

So you're saying that the nf3 offers a considerable performance advantage over the VIA chipset? Or is that just a considerable overclocking advantage?

overclocking advantage

performance is something that VIA had to play catchup with while the nf3s since the 250gb days have been at about that level

MSI offers no significant price break for the nf3 over the nf4.
Outside of the PCIe slots, does the newer nf4 prove to be better ie. more stable or a better performer than the nf3?

I was gonna just use a matrox G550 video card I have here for my new pc, so a PCIe wasn't really needed. Not that I really understand why I might need PCIe.

That's almost 4 years old!!!

I believe the Integrated Graphics on the new ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Chipset can outperform that one plus you get native DX9 support.

There is one board out from MSI with that chipset but it doesn't support overclocking although ATI has demonstrated that the chipset can overclock well and can perform close to NF4 levels. Also the Radeon XPRESS 200 supports PCIe for future upgrades.

This will not be a gaming computer, unless my nephew likes how his Radeon 9800 Pro runs in it. Then I will sell it to him.

Because the new UI supports directX acceleration... it'll require a nice video card to see it in all its glory. Most newer cards are DX9 compliant anyway.

Seems to me that the consensus is if you want to go AGP you should go with socket 754 chip and not 939.

When I posted a similar thread 2 weeks ago eceryone told me that.

So I went with MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM paired with Amd 64 3200+ S754. Very happy with this new setup.

It seems that's a lot of nice motherboard options for the 754. Is it a combination of being cheaper and more stable?

I see on Newegg the
Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR for $89 with 5 stars of 89 reviews,
ASUS K8N-E DELUXE for $127 with 5/55,
Soltek SL-K8AV2-RL for $83 with 5/14,
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 for $105 with 5/87,
MSI K8N Neo Platinum for $104 with 4/94.

I don't know if others use Newegg's reviews as atleast a considered approach. I use that to notice and from there I check the reviews and then post questions on the forums.

For an OCing/gameing machine the K8N Neo2 is fine. As far as 24/7 operation with stability, look elsewhere.

Agreed. If you're not going PCIe at this point, 754 would be a more cost effective solution.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this one, but I think the Asus K8N-E Deluxe seems to be a honey of a board

6 SATA ports ( with onboard raid controller) 2 firewire ports, Nforce3 250Gb chipset, Gb lan, and lots more

I am really seriously thinking about getting it myself
