I need to do a lot of work with a keyboard. However, I cant have the light on in my room do to the parents sleeping in the next room. So I need an illuminated keyboard. USB for the connection (I dont want wireless). Whats some good ones with solid feedback from the keys?

The no-budget solution: Learn how to type. Without looking - that's the most efficient way of doing it anyway.

Saitek Eclipse (versions 1 and 2 both are good) or the G15.

But yeah... although it's absolutely not really a helpful suggestion learning to type in the dark is a useful skill...

Saitek Eclipse 2 - pricey but just what you need. The version 1 units major downside was the coating on the keys themselves wore off within 6+ months of heavy usage. I do hope that version 2 is a little more durable, as I would like to pick one up myself.

You can a small 20W halogen desk lamp at many stores for less than $20
Basically, it is task lighting and it will illuminate an area of about 24 inches or so
Guaranteed you won't wake anybody up with that small amount of light

Saitek Eclipse is a good solution, but the G15 is better for just a little bit more $.

G15 is what I would recommend, best keyboard ive ever used (for all round usage, not like specifically typing or anything). has backlighting, plus the G keys (yes, I actually use them), and media controls.

I never knew they had lighted keyboards. Just what I want, now. The Saitek Eclipse looks just like the ticket. Kooool.

Buy a desk lamp and quiet key keyboard. It'd be hilarious if you bought a illuminated keyboard that's noisy as hell. So even though you have the lights off, you're still keeping your parents up w/ the noisy keyboard.

My wife bought me a cheapo illuminated keyboard for my birthday and, the lights didn't work and it made a whining noise to boot!

I refunded it and just bought another Dell quiet touch..... ($5)

I don't know I think the Saitek Eclipse 2 looks kinda tacky... but then again it should work better than the first one. G15 is nice but that's a bit overkill if you're just looking for lighted typing (plus it's very responsive).
