hey guys,

my parents need to buy a digital camera and i havent had much time to research it. They are looking to spend between $200-$300, it needs to be really easy to use and take good pictures. i'd prefer it use compact flash or smart media.

thanks for your help!

edit: i need to get them a case and a 256 MB media too.

A70, uses compact flash. I say it takes excellent pictures, a level of manual control. Best of all, can be had cheap sometimes.

Be prepared for a flood of Canon fanboy's but I would also consider other models.

Such as the Panasonic DMC-LC33 for $169 with FREE 128MB CF starting 10/25.

Also take a look at the Canon A300 for $169, uses CF.

Both prices are after $30 off $150 coupon and include FREE shipping.

A70 is a quality cam, but probably more than they need. How about a Canon S-series?

i need it now and i'd prfer to get it from amazon.com

I would go for one of these two:

Canon S230 or Canon A70.

The S230 is more compact, less manual controls and may be easier to operate.

Pick up 256MB CF for $41 after rebate.

thanks for all the info, any more suggestions?

whats the difference between the S230 and the A70?

S230 is smaller, easier to use, no (or very few) manual controls

A70 is an AWESOME digital camera and value, uses regular AA's which is nice for rechargeable NiMH's, has both auto and manual controls

side by side comparison

I had a canon s110 (it was recently stolen frome me 🙁) and it was really great. i'd recommend any of the S series. I miss my camera sooooooooooo much. 🙁 🙁 🙁 easy to use, takes awesome pics, and uses compact flash.
