Need RAm for Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop

Hi all I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop. It's an Intel celeron 1.5 gHz that currently has 256 mb of RAM and I am looking to upgrade but am worried about compatibility issues. I have posted two links. The first is of the one by DELL( way to much for that RAM) and the second is one from newegg. My main concern is the one from newEgg working with the laptop. I have heard from before issues with non Dell brands. The laptop only has one slot for ram by the way.

G.SKILL 512MB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333

The other question I have is: Is it worth upgrading to 1 gig of memory or is that overkill for this system. This computer is not used for gaming but i run multiple programs that is slowing it down big time.

I see no reason the RAM you found at NewEgg shouldn't work. You could try researching the model at RAM makers websites (Crucial, Kingston, Corsair) and see what specs of SODIMMs they provide.

so i did a little more research and seems i will be ok with the ream. My only question is if 512 is enough or if i should go with 1 gb?

If you can get a gig and it doesn't break the bank, go for it.
