I just ordered a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice CPU, and an ASUS A8V Deluxe MB. I have an Antec P160 Case. I want to know know what Heatsink/Fan I should be get to keep my CPU Cool, and Quiet. I will not be overclocking it.

If it would fit, the Zalmans are pretty quiet. You could get something like an XP90 or XP120 (if it fits) and use an adjustable or low RPM fan.

If u aint gona overclock, stock heatsink is all u need. If u bought OEM version of the CPU (no heatsink) then thats just a case of stupidity as stock heatsinks don't normally add more than $ 15 to the overall price.

If ur case has a side window then i can understand the use of third party coolers.

The ASUS A8V will fit even the largest breed of heatsinks. I recommend the use of ZALMAN CPNS 7000/7700 LED. Its not only quite, its also one of the best.

There are tons of coolers available, all of them will do thier job. Its just a matter of personal likings, some like thermaltake others don't, its up to u whatever u want to buy.

Stock HSF is LOOOUD as all get out. I HIGHLY reccomend the XP-90 with a Panaflo (L1BX gives rpm monitoring), it quieted my system almost completely.

to add to this i hear if u want no noise
get the thermaltake sonic tower

i hear it works really well even with no fan, and u can even put a quiet 120mm fan in the middle

The Sonic Tower with the same fan as the Big Typhoon is ALMOST as good as the Big Typhoon (within a degree or 2). The Sonic Tower does fine at stock speeds and mild OC's if you have good air flow in your case.

The optional fan on the Sonic Tower is designed to be mounted on the outside of the fins, either pushing or pulling, whichever works best for your system. You can rig a fan to fit in the middle between the towers, but there's no clean way to secure the fan between the towers.

the xp120 WILL fit on your mobo as long as you are not using those funny looking pro thingies with lights on em from corsair.. I have that setup with a cooler master 120mm @1200 rpm atop the xp120...VERY quiet and cools my oc'd winnie extremely well. I say VERY I mean it. Im a nut for silence.
