ok my leadtek came with an hsf, but, since leadtek wanted to pump out the card as soon as possible, they soldered the 2 wires onto the small power supply on the pcb of the card.....now if i were to get a blue orb:
can i just rip off the wires? i mean the card wont get wacky on me cause it "doesn't have a fan" will it? :) thx

I can't be 100% sure, but I have one, and I can't see any problem that could happen.

If you were ambitious enough, you could hook the blue orb fan up to your Leadtek card. All you have to do is first rip the wires from the existing fan off the card. Then cut the power connector off the blue orb fan and strip the wires. Then use a soddering iron to connect the wires of the blue orb fan to the power connectors on the video card. After that, your done.

*If something gets fried, please don't hold me responsible. No offense, I'm just CMA.*

uh.........wouldnt that NOT work cause orb has 3 wires, and all have to be connected for it to run?

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can run it with 2 wires. I'll explain:

wire 1 - ground (should be black)
wire 2 - +12 Volts (should be red)
wire 3 - Sensor (should be yellow, but I'm not entirely sure)

The only wires you need to have connected are the grounding wire and the +12 Volt wire. It wouldn't do any harm to not have the sensor wire connected, other than the fact that you couldn't look up it's rpm's in the bios. BTW, to answer your original question, the card should be fine without a working fan.

ok thx about the insight......but its still weird.....i mean when i was replacing my power supply fan, the peeps over at phamcomputer said that you could only use a 4 pin fan which is 2 wire........this here is the same idea, only on a video card instead of a power supply.......
