I RMA a mobo and the one they sent back is not exactly the same as my old one. More recent revision therefore the old I/O (think that's what it's called) panel that fit's at the back of the case does not match the new mobo's layout.

Can I install without that, without problems ?

Sorry for the noob question.

Sure you can. Airflow in the closed case enviroment may take a small negative impact due to it but nothing major. It is another entry point for dust too, you can probably get the right backplate by calling their customer service/sales and informing them of the mistake 🙂

Great, thought it had something to do with grounding the connectors or whatever.

I edited in a suggestion for you. Sometimes when I build internet boxes for po folks/kids from working OEM pull boards I pick-up cheap, sometimes the backplates on the cheapo cases don't match so I just leave them out. It just doesn't look as neat, lets in dust, and can mess with proper airflow a bit, but I am usually using an old Duron with no case fans so meh 🙂
