Without researching the part number, there's no way to tell if these are P2, P3, or P4. 😕

Based on my own Xeon experience, both with Compaq and non-Compaq machines, I think these would work just fine in your Dell; I can't see the Dell motherboard needing Dell-specific cpus - that'd be going just a little too far. I can see Compaq doing that, but I doubt that Dell would go so far. 😉

I think they are PIV 2.0 Xeons with 512cache,

They're 2.0 GHz each, so a total of 4GHz, but they're replacing a pair of 1.5's, so that's a 1 GHz net increase 🙂

Oh btw ,just to mess the averages up a bit ,I've powered down my XP1500 SDR rig(for lecy bill reasons) ,so that's 6WU's/day gone!

I reckon I got them cheap because they were labelled up as Compaq Xeons, maybe people weren't sure about them or something..
Hopefully they should be here in a day or so 🙂

I've promised SWMBO that I'd sell my 2 old PCs, so that's 4 WU/day to go soon though, a small price to pay...

I know what you mean about the leccy bills mate, I'm getting stung for a £600 bill now, I thought it was going out by direct debit, but it turns out it hasn't been, so I owe 1.5years back pay !!!
