i am thinking that I will get a dual capable mobo and another cpu when the price droped...since i have saved enough money for 1 cpu now....
basically i am thinking better upgrade....so maybe 1 year later when a 3gig cpu comes out...
i can just pay less money and buy another cpu and dual capable mobo to make a dual processor system..
Couple things you need to worry about here:
1) You can't mix & match speeds (it may be possible, but it's certainly not advisable)
2) Matching steppings is advisable, if you buy a CPU now & can't match the stepping later you may end up buying another CPU anyway
3) In a year a 1900+ won't be worth talking about, don't limit yourself trying to match it later
so does it mean that you are able to use some xp as a dual processor...jus wondering: )
Yes, XP's work fine in SMP mode. They just don't have the SMP circuitry tested, so if it doesn't work you don't have AMD's support. But then again if you're like most people here you probably don't give a damn.
