hey guys...

I use AT and T worldnet for my ISP...
Only problem with them is that it disconnects after 10 minutes of inactivity...
i need something that wont disconnect me while i am downloading big files while away from the computer...

any suggestions?

setting my eudora email program to check mail every 10 mins was no use... still get disconnected from ATT...

Well I'm no expert on the suject and someone else could probaby give you the techie way, but I had the same problem. I solved it by opening a second browser window and conneting to MS gaming zone in a AOE game room (not playing, just connected) This "active" connection kept my frist connection going for my downloads.

I'm sure any type of interactive (which are????)connection would produce the same results. Of course check your internet connection settings first and make sure they are not set to time out in 10 minutes....make sure its your ISP and not your settings causing the disconnection.

Try KeepRAS. I use it with Pacbell DSL, works for me. It lets you set of a list of sites that KeepRAS will ping at a certain interval. It will also reconnect you if your connection ever drops.

just sign on to AIM or MSN messenger, jeeze, dont bother with all the other garbage, any web based solution to this problem will just fill up your cache and leave your hard drive full of useless files half the time
