need processor replacement recommendation

I am in need of a replacement recommendation, can either be amd or intel.

need to replace an i7-920 that has been overclocked to 3.8ghz. need something of similar performance. similar base performance to the overclocked performance of the 920 at 3.8ghz.

doesn't matter if it is amd or intel, cost is what matters. the person's system got left in their vehicle for multiple days in 95+ degree outside weather, inside the vehicle was obviously much much hotter. needless to say the system got baked. the motherboard is bad, ram is good so can reuse his ram.

cpu/mobo recommendations? remember, looking for similar performance to his 3.8ghz, with the replacement performing at stock speeds.

I am confused as to why the system would be "baked"? The cpu for sure is specced to run way hotter than 120 degrees or whatever the car would have gotten to, for that matter the motherboard components are too. Now if I removed it from the car blazing hot I would let it sit at room temps awhile before running it...

Even a car in the hot 95F sun all day is only going to hit about 130-150F inside. Considering max temps are all measured in centigrade... That PC should honestly still work fine unless they used some really terrible solder on the motherboard.

I would say the same thing, but the board now has problems, only have the ram slots work on it, one pci slot no longer works. sata works intermittently. tried new/good ram in it, new hard drive, new power supply, baffles me, can only figure it being the motherboard. he did have the system in his car for a week+ and did do a lot of driving on bumpy dirt roads. So I am figuring the heat/rough roads damaged his motherboard
