I am looking at getting a Antec TRUE POWER 430W POWER SUPPLY to replace my aging PowerMan 235W that came with my INWIN Mid Tower case. Is this a good upgrade or am I getting a crappier power supply (even though the Watts are higher) Thanks for any help guys
what all are you running under the hood ? if you don't have much than that PS may be something of an overkill/pricey.
otherwise it's an excellent PS. any antec or enermax PS is tons better than ANY generic PS. i hear the new "true powers" are supposed to be really quiet too.
The Antec Tru power supplies are an excellent line of PSUs. They are relatively quiet as well. There is nothing wrong with getting a quality PSU, even if it is a little overkill. Especially since a quality PSU should last you several years, through several upgrades. If you want to check out some other options, then Tom's Hardware did a review of 21 different PSUs. The Tru power supply from Antec did quite well, but it is not the only option.
Here is a URL to guide you for your power supply needs it will walk you through what you need.I never own nothing but PCPOWERCOOLING power supplys.I have a High end system ( over 2.5 gigs cpu) running with a 275 silent model volt power supply. They arn't cheap but you get what you pay for I understand they went down in price so check them out at the below URL.
BTW the above review by TOM was nice but it didn't give credit to some other companies that are better and didn't explain buying over kill power supply,s for what system you are running. It is the true voltage that counts, not what label they stick on the box.
I believe PowerMan is made by Sparkle. But why buy a 430 W supply to replace a 235 W unless you reall need the 430 W for something? Just get the True330 and save some money.
well basically I wanted to get a new PS because I have recently gone from a TNT2 to the newer 8500 Radeon line added more memory another HDD (80GB 7200RPM) also just added a DVD drive. I don't know if it could be the cause of it but my DVD drive often only partially opens/closes and my Radeon card fan seems to be fluctuating speeds(I can tell by the noise that it makes) This could just be 2 faulty components but it is a coincidence isn't it.
I've used both True Power Antec 430 and Enermax Whisper series. Both are excellent powersupplies. The Enermax fan rpms runs higher than the Antec, the Antec only runs around 1500 rpm vs Enermax 2200 rpm. The Antec tends to a little hotter than the Enermax. Both are quiet.
bswail123 go with your choice of Antec True Power 430w,it may be overkill for some people here but in the end it`s always better to have more power then you need(good for future upgrades and longer life span etc) plus I rate PSUs as an important buy and having the extra power is nice even if you don`t use it right now.
is this just as good as the True Power 430???? My friend was going to give me his old Antec 350W ATX Solution Series Power Cpnt Supply is this worth taking or should I buy the 430????? I am leaning more toward the free option, but if this one sux then I will get the 430W. Thanks for all of the help guys
I have two computers, and have that Antec 350W in one and the Antec TruePower 430W in the other. I cannot tell any difference. Both have given zero problems.
