I have a set of Logitech z-5500s for my house, but a lot of times I go to my friend's "barn" (more of a cabin...) to play Xbox 360. Now, my past two projectors, the Infocus X1 and Sharp Xr-10x, have had a built in speaker. Complete trash, to be sure, but it got the job done (after using an adapter to turn the RCA cables into 1/8").

The bulb on the Sharp projector blew prematurely, which is a known problem, so i'm getting a new projector. The problem is, most of them don't have a built in speaker. I have a Logitech mm28 Link I could use, but it has no volume control, so I believe it needs some sort of amplifier. The trouble is, I have no idea what I'm looking for. Help?

Can you just get a set of cheap computer speakers? (Assuming you can plug them in somewhere to a power outlet in the barn along with the projector)

I *could*, but it would just add clutter in to a not so big space. In addition, I sometimes bring the projector elsewhere, so something really portable (even if it doesn't sound good) is more or less a must.

Dude, I had the same prob with my second xbox 360 that I use for traveling to my GFs house. I ordered an ipod speaker, the Logitech MM50 a couple of weeks ago on amazon for 50 bucks, built in rechargable battery, very flat, comes ith a case so its very portable. Anyway, I bought an RCA 2 mini out connector for 2 bucks at radio shack and hook up my 360 to the 19"lcd I left at her place and just jack in the 360 to the MM50 speakers (there is an input for external sound) and this works great. I used the same setup, sans the lcd monitor , for my lcd projector.

I'll have to look in to those. I just wish there was a way to do it cheaper with the speakers I already have - I already have that RCA adapter; needed it for my projectors too.

Maybe I can find it cheaper somewhere, although it's relatively rare to find something cheaper than amazon.
