I hope someone in here can help me help my grandchildren from accidently getting inot the pop up sticky sites that their mothers dumb ass boyfriend leaves behind when he surfs the web on her and the kids computer. I would really like some help with this.

I am not making a moral judgement about porn. I am trying to protect a 7 and 8 year old grandson that is exposed to this. Also I want to fix the jerk that uses my grandkids PC for this. It is unconcianable to me that this jerk is so self centered that he needs to get his jollies off a website on a pc that is used for my grandsons school work and research.

Can you folks make a good recomendation?

Thanks:)

I thought of that too. Alas, its still illegal to shoot someone in the head for being an asshole. If he would just break into my home with a wild look in his eye. I have a loaded 9mm right here. I think I could get the job done then.

Thank you. That might not get me in jail so quick as Jellybabys recommendation.;)

Doesnt IE have built-in protection as well?

Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Content -> turn on contect advisor...

This might get the job done as well...

If the b/f is at all computer literate, you could go the biometric route, and get a thumbprint reader keyed to the grandkids' prints. That way, b/f gets no access to the PC (presumably, your daughter has her own PC?)

As BYCL stated

IE has a content level control. It can also be password protected.
The offending site can not be accessed without entering the password.

This could allow you to prevent the grandkids from getting to the site and also leave a strong hint to the dumb-ass b/f.
This works fairly well. Most offending sites to label their content to keep in compliance with the Feds.

There are also content filtering ISPs that can be used. This would depend on who is footing the ISP bill if it would be proper family procedure.

As jfall stated
Then you have the browser content sniffers. A potential irritatino with those is if they use a URL blocker, it may not be always up to date. If they use a word filter, then there are ways around the filter - remember the "egay" situation on AT last year, or the filter may catch items that are legit for the purpose one is using the browser for.

Seeing how this may be construed as illegal but satisfying, and he is already an asshole, use it to ream him a new one, preferably up front. Solve a couple of problems at once and prevent anymore baby assholes from popping out.

This is your son-in-law right? Well... You're in the position of alpha male here, why don't you just confront him with it?

Just point out to him that his surfing habits are exposing your grandchildren to pornographic material. You know it's him doing it and you want him to stop.

No problem...now you can see if the dirtbag is really surfing the porn sites or not!! Make sure whoever installs it keeps the password to themselves and does not share it!!!!

BCYL,

As I as headed to post a thank you to you after setting the IE4.72 filters at their most stringent, it blocked the page due to lack of a rating. Guess I need to back off the settings a little, huh? Anyway, I didn't know IE had that feature, thanks.
