So my mom is complaining about her SD600 being unclear and how she "needs" IS. I haven't played with her camera enough to know how good it is but the one time I took it to school to shoot some stuff in a lecture hall the flash was terrible and couldn't do crap from the 4th row. I swore never to borrow it again and just use my brick Canon Powershot G3.
Cameras are cheap now and I suppose I can get her a new one. I just assumed she still wants the SD series but she was telling me about the A1000 she saw at Costco. Now I havent followed cameras in a while but I thought that A-series has some control like aperture and shutter speed but apparently the new ones lack it too. In fact the new A-series are a lot smaller than before?
I've been primarly a Canon guy using an XTi and a G3 so I'm sure I can find something in their lineup, but if not feel free to recommend me anything. I'm looking at some of the new SD8xx series cameras and of course the higher zoom lenses also sacrifice aperture and I figure I'd prefer a faster lens. Shrug. I'd prefer to stay in the $200s, and certainly there's always slickdeals going on for Canon cameras @ Dell.
