I went to buy a laptop on eBay just now and the buyer requires immediate payment. This is fine, because I'm using a credit card. the credit card is linked to my PayPal account.

When I go to pay for it, PayPal wants to take all the money out of my account and the rest out of my credit card. I don't want them to take my PayPal money! I just want to pay with PayPal!

Can anyone help?

Here is the auction.

there is a button... think it is on the second page, towards the bottom. it says something like 'more funding options' or something like that. you need to choose to pay with credit card. and then the next page will be asking yu if you are sure, and how you get all this protection even if using a bank account... just choose YES, pay with credit card.

His auction says PayPal only.

When you're sending a payment, you can select to send funds from your account, from your bank account, or your CC.

I went to funding options and selected my credit card. I press continue and it take me back to the Confirm Payment page saying it is still gonna take money out of my account.

I'll double check it, but I'm pretty sure it is.

Also, on the link I gave you, you can save an extra 2% by using your Dell Preferred Account.

Sweet! I think I'll go with buying it from Dell. I'm Googling for some coupons right now.

My understanding is that if you have any funds in your account, PayPal will ALWAYS use those funds first, regardless of your payment options selection.

You could just withdraw all the funds out of your PayPal account (you should not leave any in there, anyway) and THEN pay using your credit card.

Also, don't EVER buy a Dell on eBay if it is still available on the Dell website. EVER.
