I've had this entire set in my van for the past few days:I got it for our anniversary. My wife picked it out a week ago. While looking for matching cushions to put on our glider, she saw reviews mentioning this set fading quickly among other things. It's only $500.00 for the table, 5 chairs, 9' umbrella and stand. I'd rather "invest" that money in something better, if this one really sucks that bad. Otherwise, it's a waste of money.

I don't know how my wife feels about it, but I'd rather have something without cushions, that have to be removed all the time. We've got Lloyd Flanders sets in the screened in porch, but I wouldn't leave anything like that out in the weather.

I'd like to know if I should just go ahead and use this Kmart set, or take it back and order something better, or different? I'm tired of driving around with it!

Edit: She just told me it's beautiful, but to return it. She doesn't want to deal with the cushions either. Still need a deal on a replacement. though...

We went looking at all the furniture places a couple years back and the set we wound up with was from Sears. They had quite a few sets on sale too... and I think it was < $400 even with a 3-person swing. I don't see it on their website anymore, but Sears was a good place to get a patio set.

Yeah, my son works at Sears, so that's the first place we looked. Guess she didn't see anything she liked there, so she zeroed in on that Kmart set instead. Not sure what to do now...

If you want good stuff that will last you are going to pay a couple of grand and up for it. The cheapo sets are ok for a few years if you take care of them.

Did you check only the website or the actual store ? When we went there physically, they had a lot more... and at differing prices too. Weird situation. But yeah... KMart was crap around here... they had like a total of 3 sets and overpriced. We went to some places that specialized... and they were overpriced but the selection was good. All in all, I still believe Sears to be the best place... and you should take advantage of an employee discount. ;)

I'm with you. I'd rather "invest" a couple grand, than waste $500.00, but not sure who to buy from. This stuff is REALLY marked up, so I bet there are deals to be had... somewhere.

I didn't go to the Sears store and look, but my wife did. Sometimes Sears discount is no great deal, since their stuff is marked up so much anyway.

I bought a table and four chairs, plus an umbrella last year for 75 bucks at walmart. I think the umbrella is about 6 or 7 ft though.

I figure in a year or two I'll pitch it, given the cheap price. It's not as fancy as yours, but doesn't look bad, and is comfortable.

I was in Big Lots a couple months ago and they had a big selection of really cheap furniture that didn't look cheap at all.
