I am currently running the stock Intel HSF with Cermique after lapping on my 2.4C @ 3.0ghz at stock Abit IS7-E voltage and my idle temps are in the 45-47C range while my load temps after 10min of 100% CPU usage are in the 64-66C range. I decided I better go for a new HSF to drive my temps down. I did a search and realize my main options seem to be the Zalman 7000AlCu, Vantec AeroFlow, and the Thermaltake Spark 7. The Thermalright and Swifttech options would put me well over $40 with the fan, the rest are right around $40 or less, which is in my price range.
Since I am getting the new HSF I will try bump the FSB a bit higher. My GeIL Golden Dragon PC3200 can handle 210FSB with 2.8V with 2-6-3-3 timings, so I'm assuming it will pull through and handle 260FSB with the 5:4 divider with the same timings. This would put my 2.4C@3120. Out of those choices, which is my best option for driving temps down? Or are none of those 3 options good enough and I'd need to spend the additional $20 for the Thermalright SLK-900 everyone raves about? Are there any direct comparisons of these HSFs anywhere? I did a google search and all the HSF roundups I found were at least 4 months old. Any info is appreciated.
