hello guys im new here i just ordered a new rig and i actually put the order on hold cause i wasnt so sure about the specs.. and this rig is for gaming now here it goes: ;o

amd 3700/4000 san diego(my father told me that when the games support dual cores he will upgrade my cpu but ive been told that if ill upgrade the cpu to x2 there will be no socket 939 therefore ill have to change my ram and mobo ? :( )

Leadtek 7800GTX Extreme edition 1250/490 (does it worth more 90$? )

Antec P160 (does it worth the money?)

ocz 520powerstream (or to change to ocz 420 power stream?)

wd 160gb sata2

dfi lanparty ultra-D

OCZ 1x2gb Platinium 2-3-2-5 in israel it costs about 500$+ if i could buy the comp from the us

NEC 3540A dual layer

and i saw here in the forums that dual cores are having some problems in games like crashing and stuff like that so its so good for gaming? and how can i fix it if i buy dual core? and about the sockets that amd are changing is it true? i need ur opinions guys its very important thank u :/

Read those threads you saw. In them you'll see that any problems encountered are fixed with an X2 driver, thus the problem doesn't really exist.

if you can afford it, get the 4400+ otherwise, go for the 3800+. i hope you are going to overclock this thing, right?

Your choices are either 3000+ or 3800+X2. Either one is fine for todays games, but the X2 is alot more expensive.

Both of those things are lies. I haven't heard of the X2 processors having problems on games, and the X2s are Socket 939, so you wouldn't have to upgrade anything.

well i saw here in some article/review that the sockets are going to change to M2 and there will be no 939... so it complicates things here... so what do u say i should buy ? and the psu to stay with 520w powerstream?

The 4400 is more exspensive, and barely faster, I know, I own both. Unles you are made of money, get teh 3800+.

Do you really need dual core? If all you are doing is surfing the net or playing games, you don't need dual core? Go with a 3700 San Diego and overclock it. It should be about half of what a 4400 X2 will cost. As far as a case goes, I'd go with the Sonata II. It comes with a 450 watt power supply and it's a beauty. I recently built a couple of gaming rigs for friends based on the 3700 San Diego and the Sonata II case. I've run these processors oveclocked (over 300mhz past stock) and just put a 92mm Panaflo fan in the duct that comes with the Sonata II over the CPU, and the temps are great. No additional aftermarket HSF required.

Your stuff looks good - the DFI Ultra is THE board for overclocking, so you could even get a Venice 3000 and OC it - I have mine running at 2.6ghz on air. Dual cores are nice to have, but right now there are no games that would benefit from the second core. If you have the money, get a x2 3800 or the 4200 and OC it - you'll be set for the next few years. Otherwise just get a single core now, and you can buy the dual core when prices come down - that's what I plan on doing.

And socket M2 wont be here until summer 06, maybe even later, and it doesnt look like it will offer any huge improvement over skt939. I wouldnt even worry about M2, I'd probably wait it out until the socket after the M2 comes out before upgrading from a s939 system.
