The old kettle grill bit the dust. I am looking for something in the $300 range. If it can smoke (for BBQ) as well as grill it a big plus. I know Brinkman makes one, but does anyone have experience with this?

Edit-Got one!

My Baby

Not the best, but looks real good. The best cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ought to be fun! Got 60 lbs of lump charcoal too. Mmmmm ribs, brisket and chicken YUM!

I take it you don't want gas.

I've been thinking about going charcoal for a change. It seems to impart a better flavor that gas grills.

Yep HP, charcoal IMO is superior. I would suggest that if you do charcoal, forget the briquettes. Strange flavor and lots of ash. Get lump charcoal. I get it at my truevalue hardware store. Leaves little ash, and gives a perfect, never off flavor. It costs more, but there is less waste so it evens out. A little goes a long way, but because it burns hot, so I occasionally have to add a chunk or two for longer cooking, but I wouldnt use anything else. 🙂

$300, you're way outta my league. I can't live without my assortment of Webers. Most times I just use the $19.99 Smoke'n Joe. You can beat it for grilling four steaks. Just the right size.

hard to beat a weber grill for anything - and i've had them all (gave up grilling since we had the o'l colon cancer resected)

if your looking for something to round out your grill collection - get a kamado grill (ceramic japanese grill - burns very small amounts of hardwood charcoal, very heavy and thick grill - traps all the heat - really kind of neat - i used it primarily to grill/smoke whole turkeys linky

if you want to uptown from the weber (again - it is hard to beat - hands down the best grill for the money - i've owned every size there is and loved everyone of them, probably to much) - check out
Hasty Bake Charcoal grills

known as the Cadillac of charcoal grills - and they cost about that much to.

Thanks guys. There arent many places where you can go to see one of these around Boston. The Char-grill looks like it has potential. Smokin' Pro maybe. Little more investigating sounds in order.
