Need New Video Card < $200

I just got a video Card from Tiger Direct that I am returning and have a credit:

Returning XFX Nvidia 6600 256 AGP

It was crashing my system and giving me the blue screen of death.

I have heard a lot of people saying not to get a XFX, but my last card 4200 Ti was XFX and it ran like a dream for as long as I had it. What is the deal with not getting XFX?

What is the best video card for under $200? As it is now I was thinking of picking up the 6600 GT 128 AGP which is running around $159 - $200 on Tigerdirect (where I have the credit)...

I have been playing WoW and Battlefield 2 on my PC:
Pentium 4 2.4
1 gig Rambus Memory
Soundblaster A2
ASUS Motherboard (forgot model #)

I would appriciate any advice you could give. =)

For AGP? You can get a 6800 vanilla for <$200 right now, that's even better than a 6600gt.

Man, if you can swing it get the Connect 3D Radeon X800 Pro for $199.99.


And im certainly not gonna argue the 6800 either, both these cards are way better than a 256mb 6600 any day!

Vote for 6800nu (vanilla), just stay away from XFX. Their cards are hit and miss at best. Get a LeadTek, BFG or eVGA if you want to sit comfortably in the top tier of quality manufacturers.

I vote for the x800 Pro, dependable performance and 256megs of fast GDDR3. The 6800 can only approach it if you can unlock the pipes, but then it seems hamstrung by its limited memory....

If you can get the X800 Pro for less than $200 that would be the better deal. If not the 6800 OC is a great card too, but not as good as the X800 Pro. And dont count on unlocking it, thats a hit or miss thing and is definatly not guranteed.

On my X800 XL (A little faster than the Pro) I run BF 2 with all HQ settings and 2x FSAA at 1280 x 960 and average around 50-70fps.

Even if you unlock the 6800NU, check some benchmarks, it's only a few FPS. X800 Pro is a much safer bet.

Well, I don't like TigerDirect that much, but that X800Pro is a great deal. These cards usually overclock to XT speeds quite happily.

You do know that the X800Pro has 12 pipes and the X800XT has 16? ok good.

I would get an extra $80 and buy an X800XL cause its much, much better than the X800PRO.

I went with the X800 Pro 256 @ $199.99, even though i am a huge Nvidia fan I believe the X800 Pro is the better deal in this case. It was either that card or the 6800 128 which was $15 more after a rebate.

ati tool is great. just leave it running after setting a few numbers and it'll automatically find your max ocs.
