Need new speakers because the old ones won't work

I currently have Altec Lansing 4.1 suround speakers, but they do not work on my new computer. The mother board is a MSI neo4 platinum board. It's audio outputs are: Line out, Rear speaker out, Center sub out, and spidif digital and coaxial out.

The way my old speakers work is two cables (line and suround stereo) plug into the sub and then the four speakers come out of the sub. It worked with my old creative cards outputs but not with the msi board. I hooked the line out and rear speaker out up to it, but only one speaker and the sub make sound.

Any idea how to fix this problem? Or can you reccomend a new speaker setup that is the right mix of quality and value?

Thanks

Do you have the onboard sound setup to do 4.1?

Are you sure you don't have the first jack connected to the center/sub output?

The ones you should be plugging into are usually green and black. If you're plugging one into the center/sub, I think that would do what you're describing.
