At least try to do some of the legwork yourself. There are plenty of threads with recommendations on parts, and you can then go look at the pricing to see if you want to adjust for lower or higher performance based on price, THEN post what you're considering, and explain why you've chosen each part, such as good performance per dollar, or just plain highest performance, or best looking design, THEN people will give you suggestions on what they think might be a better option, and possibly give you places you can get better prices. Insisting on one dealer is a good way to spend more money than you need to.

I wish I had time for that
the problem is I have no time at all and I thought maybe someone can help me with the build... anyway I'll check what I can do.

Do you have a keyboard and mouse already for this system? And what kind of case do you currently have...

Edit: and do you plan on using your hard drives from your current system... once you give me more information, I can do an updated list for you and possibly make better recommendations,

Video Card

Mainboard

CPU

RAM

160 GB Seagate HDD

Check Out Summary
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alberta Enviromental Fee: $12.00
Subtotal: $1,082.39
GST(6%): $64.94
YOUR TOTAL: $1,147.33
CAD (shipped)

edit2:using the website you gave me, ncix.com, the above parts give you free shipping...
edit3:the video card I'm recommending is better than the 7600 GT because it has a 256 bit memory interface which makes the card MUCH faster. The AM2 plus DDR 2 give you the best combination of gaming/non-gaming performance.
edit4: OK, THERE'S THE UPDATED TOTAL ABOVE WITH HDD
edit5: btw, you can knock off $12 if you don't live in Alberta ;) I'm actually from Salt Lake City, Utah and I had to fudge on that part :)

I do have a mouse and keyboard and I don't have any hard drive...
I think about buying WD hard drive 200GB would be enough.
I need a motherboard with firewire, I'll go for the 7600GT KO, the moniter seems great, the antec case is not bad.
I'm waiting for more...
by the way I'll go for this video card CARD
I want to buy Nvidia
hmm and I have a little question about the CPU... why more people buying s939 when AM2 is better? it's the same price.

Ok, I changed the board... It's a microAtx, but it'll fit in the case still... The difference? One less PCI slot and a free firewire port for $12 less...

BTW, the video card the other guy listed on the price sheet is out of stock, and I used to be hardcore NVIDIA, but, trust me, I bought an ATI card and I am happy with it. You are paying $45 more for a card that is slower. I've done my research. It's really not worth it.

There is no reason to buy a 939 if AM2 costs less... You get the same performance, and as DDR2 speeds get higher, the AM2 based systems will outpace 939s.

well, I understand about the AM2 so forget about the firewire. What would be the best mobo to buy if so?
but still somehow It seems that more people are buying the s939, it intersting why...
and the s939 is better if i'll buy DDR and not DDR2?

There's no disadvantage to buying a MicroATX board except that it costs less? They fit in the same case.

BFonnes

anyway, here's the link to the previous board without firewire... It looks like they just put it on special, so now it's only $3 more than the MicroATX one.

OK guys since I can't decide I'd like you to build two systems one with s939 and one with AM2, I'll decide which one i'll go for later because today is my last day with computer access this week.
in both systems include 7600GT, Samsung 940B, Antec Sonata II and a 200GB HD.
Thanks a lot! :)

Did you know the Toyota Camry V6 is faster than the Lotus Elise because the Camry has 268hp?

Save $20 and get half the memory. Nice.

I'm not 100% sure about the video card so I don't care what you'll put in the systems I've asked.

sorry, I wasn't trying to confuse you... The main reason to get the 7600GT is it supports the pixel shader 3.0, and the x800XL only supports 2.0, so it's a newer card.

Here's more resources for benchmarking:
benchmarks for common cards

you can change the cards to suit your liking... although, it doesn't have the 7600GT in there, only the 7800GT, unfortunately.

yeah, I was just going off the specs... I wasn't trying to shoot you down. they're pretty even, it's probably not worth arguing about, and considering the 7600GT is a newer card, I'm sure you're correct that it's the way to go. Splitting hairs really. I honestly am a little behind the curve and don't play any of the newer games.... sorry for the confusion.

That's not too bad after rebate, but you don't need DDR2-800 memory.

http://anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2797&p=19
ALL of the seven brands reached DDR2-800 with a voltage increase to around 2.2V. This performance was a complete surprise for DDR2 memory kits rated at DDR-533 or DDR2-667. Most of the value kits also reached DDR2-800 memory timings of 4-3-3. This is only slightly slower than our High-Performance DDR2 group at DDR2-800 3-3-3.

CL3 for the high-performance group... anyone that is heavy into gaming will appreciate the lower CAS latency

as long as you match everything together and you have the right parts, everything should work together just fine... It's not as critical these days. Most, rather, almost all parts, are compatible with each other.
All the parts I put in my build are designed to work together and fit in the proper sockets and slots. You'll have to ask Howard if you want the other build back. He seems to have editted his post and deleted it... As for me, I've put as much time into this as I can without getting paid for it ;)
