my current pair of headphones went through the washer and dryer so now it is time to get a new pair. I am hoping you can recommend me a pair that sound fine and are wired, or wireless with a wired option. My current phone has a flaw and the bluetooth no longer works. I prefer something that does not go into your ear but i am open to any suggestions that are under $100, ideally closer to $50.

What do you use them for? What are you looking for? Headphones are one of those things that are extremely opinionated.

1. Samsung stock headphones - phone calls, normal music listening at work, stuff I don't care about
2. Motorola S-11 Flex Behind the neck, in-ear wireless headphones - cardio, running, etc where I want to avoid wires but am moving too much to use a bulkier headphone. These are discontinued but I have a couple pairs I bought on Woot a while back
3. Plantronics noise canceling headphones - These are big and bulky - similar to the Beats but without the price tag. I use these for traveling & for steady state weightlifting. These can be bluetooth or corded and the sound quality is great.

I should have said for cardio so i don't want those big cans that will get all sweaty.

So it all depends on your ears and what's comfortable. I used an over-ear earbud for a while that I liked and had a good fit. Now I use the motorolas I mentioned above, which have good retention, but don't stay well in my ears, so I have to turn up the volume to account for it. I personally don't think I'd like a full ear cup with pad that would get sweaty, which leaves me stuck with earbuds which don't stay in my ears well.

This is kind of what I used to have: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHS8...d=1522877052&sr=8-8&keywords=over+ear+earbuds

I use the Shure SE215 earphones when I run. I use the triple flange tips which help with retention and sound isolation. They have replaceable cables and are setup to run the cable over the back of your ear which also helps keep them on. Only challenge can be cable management as the cable is a bit heavy. they are generally just under $100 and sound pretty good.

I've had my current Shure SE215 for 5 or 6 years. I've replaced the cable twice over that time.

I was pretty happy with my JBL reflect mini's. Survived rain, sweat and they even did well in the freezing cold (where a lot of buds harden and pop out easily).
They locked in fairly well and they sounded very good compared to the various Sony and Yurbuds (never again).
They were finally retired after they got flaky (Volume would randomly increase to full blast on my phone)

Side note: I do have the bluetooth version of the JBL reflects but also ended up with a couple of sets of MPOW bluetooths buds. While couple of them are crap sounding (the Cheetahs are the worst sounding POS I've suffered through in ages. Anyone who pimped these on there top 10 blog list should be forced to eat them), I did end up with a pair branded MPOW Judge. Great bass heavy sound. While you obviously are not looking at bluetooth and you said no in-ears, check out some of there wired offerings. Dirt cheap (20 and under on Amazon), some may be garbage but I think they have some gems in there lineup.

I've been using the same set of ebay HTC earbuds for a while now. Perfect for gym duty or running. Cheap. Decent sounding to me.

That gets my vote. I use something similar from Panasonic currently (because that was what was on sale last time I need some new ones).

I just buy cheap standard earbud, and replace with more cheap standard earbuds when the break. I like the ones that come with multiple ear plug sizes to get the snuggest comfortable fit.

I don't need audiophile headphones for jogging. They are eventually going to get lost or destroyed.

Sennheiser has a good line of sports headphones, that's what I use.
