Need new graphics help

I am looking to replace my graphics card. Here are some criteria, I have a socket 754 motherboard and I am not going to replace it this year. So I won't be doing SLI. What is a good card costing 2-300 dollars and is appreciably faster than the ATI X850 XT? Doesn't matter if its Nvidia or ATi, just want something that will be somewhat good for a long time. Thanks.
 
faster than a X850 XT??? good luck there is the 7800 GS but its barely faster for AGP.

If you've already got a PCI-Express mobo then if you can find a 7900GT or X1800XT you'd be set.
 
eVGA typically is great though they have had some issues with their 7900 series. I would personally get the Sapphire X1800XT at newegg for $289 iirc as its generaly faster and typically considered to have better image quality.
Also not alot of the 7900GT's are availbable right now atleast not for $299 anymore.
