I need a new cell phone. My E815 appears to be dying. I can do the New Every 2 deal with Verizon and get $100 off a phone with a 2 year contract.

I don't use the phone for much, mainly just voice calls and those aren't very often.
Something with good battery life, loud & clear sound, and gets good signal is pretty much all I require.

I was looking at maybe an LG Chocolate. Are they any good?

it's a right simple phone, and not many seem to like that kind nowadays, but I love my little nokia 3120b. Nokia keeps a minimum-feature candy bar style cell around just like it, so chances are it'll be free with contract. Lasts a week between charges, great little phone IMO.

LG Chocolate = BAD

My friend runs a Verizon store and has said not to bother with them.

I have a LG VX8350 and it gets good reception and if I don't talk much, I don't have to charge the battery very often. (Every three or four days?)

my daughter has the chocolate, she likes it but i hate it. the buttons dont feel like buttons (and i loved my razr) and the scroll is weird. freezes up sometimes for no apparent reason, and the settings are a bit odd at times. i have the env and love it. she also keeps trying to talk me into trading her phones... like im gonna fall for that.

Out of the phones mentioned above, Id go with the Razr, or maybe the Krzr. Out of CDMA phones, Motorolas usually have close to if not the best rf performance. Sure, everybody and their grandmother have a razr nowadays, but it makes calls in fringe areas better than almost any of the others you have listed. Some versions of the CDMA Krzr have had glitchy software probs (not sure it it will matter with VZW as they lock down their phones with their stupid ui anyways), so you may want to skip it. Ive heard horror stories about LG's, the Chocolate in paticular. Samsungs are usually ok, but the motos will beat it in the rf department.

I like my Env2 but it's probably a little to fancy for you. From what I've read Motorola has the best reception. I've always heard good things about LG too, I believe the updated chocolate was supposed to be much better than the original.

My girlfriend has the Rumor and I have the new Chocolate phone. I love both of our phones, they're easy to use, though both are different from your traditional layout. The only complaint I have about the Chocolate is that the phone gets scratched easily on the front and then it gets hard to see in certain types of light.

The chargers that come with the phones are pretty bad, unfortunately I've had to buy new chargers from Cell Factory because they fall apart easily.
