I have a database that was created in Access 2.0 that I need to convert to Access 2000. If I try to convert it using Access 2000, it gives me some errors during the conversion, and the new database is not fully functional.

If I convert it using Access 2002, telling it to convert to an Access 2000 database, it works just fine.

Now, my problem is that I have no idea how to share this database with more than one person. If I move the converted database to a shared network folder, I am able to open it from my computer. But if I try to open it from anyone elses computer, it says that it is opening it as read-only.

How do I make it so that anyone can open it, and still be able to make changes to the database?

1) You are interchanging Access 2.0 and Access 2002:confused: within your explanation. Which is which?

2) Access generates some type of locking mechanism that puts additional users in the read only mode. This happened even back with Access '97.

3) Go into Access and ask for help on Sharing the Database on a Network
That may help you along.

The original database is Access 2.0. If I use Access 2000 to convert it, I get errors. If I use Access 2002 to convert it (to Access 2000), it works. Make sense?

The help file does not help much. I have the database in a shared network folder. Access is set to open databases in shared mode by default. I can see that an .LDB file is created when I have the database open. However, other people can only open the database in read-only mode... even when nobody has it open.

Is the folder that the database is stored in shared for read & write access?

My apologies for dougting your typing abilities. I had was not aware of an Access 2002.
