need motherboard suggestions for opteron 185 purchase

with the opteron prices being lowered i am considering getting an opteron 185 and want to know what motherboards will support it as the board i currenty have will not support it nor will their be any new bios updates for it according to gigabyte.

That opteron 185 won't be much faster than your 4200 if you are OC'ing. For $423 (newegg) I would get an E6400 and a motherboard and memory.

No doubt. But, if you're still interested, they're still selling DFI Ultra-D's at newegg, for ~$100.

If you're running a 4200 on your board, a 185 will run just fine. It's a complete waste of money, however.

I concur with Markfw900, get 6300/6400 instead will get you much bigger boost in performance.

but i would need to get new memory as well which would put the cost higher, trying to stay around $400 to $500. and in looking at benchmarks i disagree about it not being a worthwhile upgrade from my 4200
