Hey all.. I'm thinking I want to replace these two old 19" CRTs I have sitting side by side in my bedroom with a pair of widescreen LCD monitors. I could go the 24" Dell route, but then it occurred to me that I might want to hook up a dvd player and put together a mini-HT setup at the same time (I already have an HT setup in the living room).

I looked at a couple of 26" LCDs at my local CompUSA, but they either do not have DVI input, or only support ridiculously low resolutions like 1280x1024.

Any suggestions? Cost is not really a factor, as I can afford and am willing to pay for quality.

NEC is coming out with a 26" (S-IPS to my knowledge) widescreen, but it will be expensive, really expensive. Rumors are it will support high color gamut (92%+).

Edit: updated info from travbomb on Hardforum:

LCD2690WUXi-BK - estimate of $1750
A-TW-IPS Panel
1920x1200
800:1 contrast
12 ms response, 5 ms g2g
178/178
400 cd/m2
VGA, DVI-D, DVI-I
4 year warranty
Height, swivel, pivot adjustments
Optional Soundbar
92% coverage of adobe color gamut.

Should be available last week of september/first week of october.

Hmm.. Thanks for the info!

The general advice I'm getting so far is to simply buy a monitor capable of high resolution, and not worry so much about the tv aspect. I may end up just going with a pair of Samsung or Dell 24" LCDs...
