the 780i boards have a video problem, am I correct? I see it all over in forums. I really only need this because I screwed up and bought 2 880GTs and didn't realize I had a crossfire board. So, I need an SLI board that's as stable and OCs as well as this Gigabyte EP which is a p35 board. The 780i scares me and I don't need DDR2 - so I thought the striker extreme 680i would be good.
What video issue are you exactly referring to? In any case, a video issue is not likely a board issue but rather a video card (drivers, or SLI-specific) issue. Purchasing a high-end 680i board at this time is a bad choice, I'm afraid. 680i and 780i both support DDR2 only, and 790i supports DDR3 (only). Mid-to-low end 680i (such as 680i LT for $100~$120) may not be a bad deal for a dual-core CPU, but if you're looking above price points you should definitely go with the new 7 series boards.Originally posted by: ThePiston
