NEED MAJOR HELP ON COMPUTER BIOS~~~Please

Hi guys,

I just upgraded my bios and my computer would not start. The monitor will not get any signal at all and it will shut down before I can get to bios with the delete key. I am wondering if there is a way that I can flush the new bios and return to my old bios? The board is a shuttle ak12.

Is it as easy as taking out the battery on the motherboard and and plugging it in?

HELP!!!

I think there's a jumper somewhere on the mobo that you can switch for like 5 seconds or so.. then switch back and itll restore the default bios settings..... but you have to do this while the mobo is not connected to any power...

go here to download the pdf file for the mobo... and it says in there w/ pictures which jumpers to set...
its a 1.15mb file so... it may take a while to download...

<< Can you explain how the jumper works?

Thanx

k... this is straight from the manual..

k.. looking at your mobo w/ the ram at the top right.. ps2 slots and stuff at the top left.... pci slots at the bottom left.. ill locate the jumpers for you...

look at your RAM slots.... at the bottom of the left RAM slot... there should be a jumper at the left of it.... see it??

now the jumper should be in the 1-2 position right now... what you gotta do is unplug the power from your mobo, and take that jumper.. put it in the 2-3 slot for a few secs.. then back into the 1-2 slot.. .then plug the power back in.. and boot up... bios should be back to default... if you dont understand let me know..

Actually to be more accurate, my computer dont beep at all.

Could it be the power supply is not sufficient?

I have 250watt right now and it works fine before I installed the new bios.

it sounds like you used the wrong image to flash your data with.
go to the manufacturere's website and see if there's a way to recover from a bad flash

it's not a matter of taking the battery out. it's not due to bad settings. but rather of using the wrong file

<< HOw do you reflash it with a disK?

Sandinigga! You have been a big help.
>>

haha.. you called me sandinigga... my name is sandigga.. some people may find sandinigga offensive..

now.. how to flash w/ disk?? i've never done it...

you can download the latest flash here

then i guess you put it on a disk and just hope that your comp will read it... i dunno though..

found this also.... this is from shuttles web page...

also may wanna look at the mobo forum... they've probably got better answers or help over there.. if anybody will even answer your question.. sorry im not really an expert at this.. just doing simple searches on google to help ya...

oooopps sandigga. got your name wrong. I tried the cmos thing and its not working. I do appreciate your help though.

ive flashed from floopy all you do is put in the floopy and when it boots it should read the floopy and you follow the directions a few enter keys and your done. not very hard.

hope you get this figured out. you could always call tech support. 🙁

also post this in General Hardware there might be a few people who could help you over there who dont visit OT.
