Right now I have a Uniden router and PC card. I also have a Netgear PC card.
There are three computers, one with a wired connection next to the router snd the laptops have PC cards.
The problem is that there isn't a signal at all in the rooms the farthest away. Do you know of any routers/cards with good range where I could get it and two cards for <100$ ? Or could I keep the cards ?

Also, B is fine if it works.

Unfortunately there is No "Holly Grail" in the Wireless performance.

Entry Level Wireless Hardware, both the source (Router/AP), and Clients has the same 50mW Radios and 2dbi Antennae.

The differences in Distance Coverage between the functional hardware sold by the regular Brands might be few feet (give and take).

Either you buy the Cisco Airnet Hardware (100mW Radios, and above $300). Or you buy multiple inexpensive Entry Level AP/Routers and string them around.

If you want few ideas.

Link to: Extending the Distance of Entry Level Wireless Network.

In general, 802.11g will give you better functional coverage.

Thanks Jack, I moved the router to the center of the house and got another wireless card. It works much better now that ~50% of the signal isn't going outside.

either get or make a external antenna and get this card
Senao NL/SL-2511CD PLUS EXT2 (200mW, 2 MMCX connectors)

or get his one and use its built in atenna
Senao NL/SL-2511CD PLUS (200mW, no EXT antenna)

These Senao cards with 200mw blow away most others in range and sensitiveity exspecially for the price

The Senao runs about 75 dollars

also there is a SMC card with 200mw that is alittle cheap 50 dollars

note these are all B not G cards

I'm curious to see if there is any hardware available.... industrial or otherwise that will give you the longer ranges, even if it's propriatary or non b/g...

Antennas can help in certain cases. Repeaters do help , but many times those only work with a certain brand & model. (See Aamzon reviews)

yeah, but my main motivation is to be able to catch my signal from this side of campus... I live in a highrise on the south side with my window facing campus... if I got a really really strong system and put it in the window, I could check my email from the cafeteria.... :)
