just like the title says, whether it's the Red Cross, contributions
for needy members of military familes, clothing drives, refugee assistance, etc.,
I need something concise I can
post in other places- regional links are good too (I'm in SD, CA)

NOT seeking links to political groups, pro- or anti-, just groups
that help people.

thanks

Actually, that's a good idea, the reserve's families are having a fairly tough time. I wouldn't know who to contact though. It's a pity that they are paid so little for defending our freedom. They put their own lives on hold when they get called up.

I found out about the AER (American Army Relief) who's goal is to provide relief to the following:

Soldiers on extended active duty and their dependents.
Members of the Reserved Components of the Army (Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve) on continuous active duty for more than 30 days and their dependents.
Soldiers retired from active duty because of longevity or physical disability, or retired upon reaching age 60 (Reserve Components) and their dependents.
Widows (ers) and orphans of soldiers who died while on active duty or after they retired.

I thought this fell right into what people were looking for. If you're interested the link is http://www.aerhq.org
