You want to look for cdrom images that are: i386, x86, i486, or i586 in their name somewere.

That's a pretty lean machine. Once you get whatever you want installed avoid using full fledged desktop enviroment like Gnome or KDE. Try a minimalist setup with something like Icewm or Fluxbox.
Check out slackware or Debian.
You might want to try
vector linux. It's slackware based and compatable with pre-packaged slackware software.
