need lighting advice

I want to redo the lighting in my room. It's rectangular, and not very big - has maybe 5 feet lengthwise from the edge of the bed to the close, and maybe 6 feet widthwise. Just a couple tables and a bed. My current lighting setup is a desklamp, a table lamp, and a standing lamp that shoots light up to the ceiling. It's not very evenly lit and hurts my eyes sometimes.

So my questions are: (1) how should I do the lighting setup, and (2) who makes good lamps that won't hurt my eyes?

Just get some lamps with some soft hues to them. That should help your eyestrain a bit, not to mention help out with the ladies...

Get a shoplight and point it at your ceiling. It'll give you nice, even indirect light, and it'll save on electricity.
