Hello, I want to buy a LARGE LCD, because the eyes are getting old.

Resolution should be 1280 x 1024 or less... I already own a Silicon Graphics LCD that does 1600 x 1024, which is too high a resolution. A lot of fonts are unreadably small, and resetting configurations for everything is a pain in the backside.

It has to accept a DVI for the computer output. I'll be using it to cut television with Avid and Combustion on a wintel, so it would be great if it displayed NTSC or S-video too. (Apple's first LCD years ago would do that, but it was only 15" and strictly analog).

Lastly I want to experiment with Linux, but as a beginner I don't want to have to install complicated drivers just to make a high-res display readable (I've been stumped on that with the SGI 1600). So What I want is for the LCD to take a standard VGA resolution and scale it up to fill the screen. (I understand that there are compromises in this process, and that native resolutions don't resize neatly).

Also, I want no dead pixels (snicker). And for it to cost $50. (big laugh)

In another part of the forum people have said good things about Samsung LCDs, but they seem to peak out at 19" (for 1280 * 1020). Does anyone know of a good one that's 20", 21" or even 22"?

Thanks for your help.
